(Some 3D Printing experience is recommended, but not madatory)
Welcome back to the exciting world of 3D Printing! This course for elementary and middle school students is a hands-on learning experience designed for students who are looking to buy their own 3D Printers or already own a 3D Printer, but are curious about how the machine functions, as well as the do’s and don’ts when operating these machines. This class is a blend of art and science, providing students with the unique opportunity to learn how 3D Printers operate, as well as how different shapes and orientations affect how the printer will behave. The fundamentals of machine maintenance and settings will be covered to ensure safe operation and the know-how on what to do if a print fails or if the printer is malfunctioning. This is a hands-on class using Cura, a slicing software to teach how a 3D Printer makes models. We will be making test models using different settings to see how it will affect the overall final print. Daily class will begin with learning some new settings and 3D Printing an object was affected by that day's setting, ultimately culminating in a custom profile that will help with initial settings at home. Nurturing the love for learning and exploration at an early age is key for preparing students for the future. By the end of this class, students will not only have a solid foundation in 3D Printing mechanics, but will also have developed skills that can be applied to numerous aspects of their education and future endeavors. Join us for an enriching class to further 3D Printing knowledge. Let’s build these layers up the way we want it!
