This is a course that is divided into two parts
- Step 1 is a 6 week class for learning the process.
- Step 2 is a 6 week clinic with hands on application.
A Twelve-Week Class on Writing request for Domestic Violence Restraining Order(s) and Semester-Long Domestic Violence Clinic for students interested in legal advocacy and supporting survivors of domestic violence. The six-week class on writing request for Domestic Violence Restraining Order(s) will provide students with comprehensive training on the legal intricacies involved in drafting and preparing TROs. Taught by experienced legal professionals and scholars, this specialized course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to create effective and legally sound documents that protect victims of domestic violence. Through engaging lectures, practical exercises, and case studies, participants will gain a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding TROs and their role in safeguarding survivors. Students will then apply these skills in a 6 week long clinic located on campus.
Upon completion of the clinic, students will receive a Certificate of Completion.
